Senator Claire McCaskill to speak at Herod's Academy!

With a tip of the Padre's biretta to Kansas City Catholic, I would like to further elaborate on the irony of Senator McCaskills position vis-a-vis speaking in a Catholic venue named for St. Joseph.

It seems rather ironic to this blogger that Ms. McCaskill should be disappointed that she was "dis-invited" to speak at St. Joseph's Academy. After all, among his other positive attributes and achievements, do we not venerate St. Joseph as a Diligent Protector of the Christ Child, and Chaste guardian of the Virgin? Was it not St. Joseph who took Mary and Jesus to Egypt to protect Him from the slaughter of Herod's greed? Since Claire's outspoken support of abortion rights and of Planned Parenthood is in opposition to everything St. Joseph stands for. It was never appropriate to invite her in the first place. I think it would have been fine if a local school named in honor of King Herod had invited her to give the commencement, but not St. Joseph's Academy. I am glad to see that the courage of St. Louis' chief shepherd is encouraging his flock to speak the truth as well - it seems the school administration IS taking responsibility for the disinvitation!
